After an inspirational comeback followed by an untimely injury, Dylan Black is moving on from the Beavers.
Oregon State football is set to lose its top long snapper to the transfer portal.
Redshirt senior Dylan Black is entering the portal, he announced on Friday. Black played in just one game for the Beavers this season, the opener vs. California, during which he broke his snapping hand on a special teams play.
Black overcame a testicular cancer diagnosis to return to the field for the Beavers in 2025, and provided an inspirational presence on the team.
His season-ending injury against the Golden Bears set off a cataclysmic series of events for OSU’s special teams unit as well: the Beavers botched six long snaps in the second game of the season against Fresno State, and the issue persisted for weeks. At half of that game, former OSU coach Trent Bray called OSU’s special team performance a “(expletive) joke.”
Earning a medical hardship waiver for this most recent season, Black has one year of eligibility remaining at his next destination. OSU will likely seek out a reliable long snapper to replace Black in the portal.
