The Stanford Cardinal will head up to Corvallis to face the Oregon State Beavers in Pac-12 play from Reser Field.
Stanford Cardinal Preview
Stanford moved to 3-6 after defeating Washington State in Pullman, 10-7. The Cardinal struck late and spoiled weekends once again with a scrappy win over Wazzu, and they’ll attempt to do the same here against OSU. The Stanford offense is scoring 21.3 ppg, while passing for 238.9 ypg, rushing for 121.7 ypg, and converting 44.3% of their third downs.
Stanford Player Notes
Ashton Daniels didn’t play particularly well in last week’s win, passing for 115 yards and an interception. The sophomore quarterback was on a tear to close October, but he could be in for another stiff test here with Oregon State defense. Daniels has passed for 1,707 yards with nine touchdowns to four picks thru nine games.
Backup QB Justin Lawson scored the lone touchdown in the win over WSU, and he leads the team with 225 rushing yards for the season.
Sophomore wideout Elic Ayomanor has caught eight passes or more in three of the last four games, and he leads Stanford in receptions (49) and receiving yards (790).
The Stanford defense has allowed 36.8 points per game.
Oregon State Beavers Preview
Oregon State improved to 7-2 after defeating Colorado in Boulder by a touchdown, 26-19. The Beavers held off the Buffs in the fourth quarter, and they’ll look to remain unbeaten at home this weekend. The OSU offense is scoring 35.2 ppg, while passing for 249.2 ypg, rushing for 188.0 ypg, and converting 44% of their third downs.
ORST Player Notes
DJ Uiagalelei managed last week’s contest well on the road, protecting the football, while passing for 223 yards and totaling two touchdowns. The former Clemson QB hasn’t really turned heads with his arm in Corvallis, but he understands how to play winning football, and he’ll look to keep rolling here at home. Uiagalelei has passed for 2,014 yards, with 18 touchdowns to four interceptions through nine starts.
Sophomore back Damien Martinez reached the 100-yard mark for the first time in Pac-12 play, and he leads the team in rushing at 878 yards on 140 touches.
Junior wideout Silas Bolden has scored in three of the last five games, and he leads OSU in receptions (40) and receiving yards (562).
The OSU defense has allowed 21.3 points per game.
Stanford vs Oregon State Trends
STAN is 5-4 against the spread, with a 3-6 O/U record.
OSU is 5-4 ATS, with a 5-4 over/under record.
Corey’s Free Pick
Although Stanford has proven to be a spooky squad over the last five weekends, Oregon State has the defensive unit to silence them here at home. The Beavers have leaned heavily on their front seven to set tones for the entire game this season, and there’s a strong chance that trend continues against an inexperienced Cardinal O-line. Let’s trust an assertive outing from Oregon State for this Pac-12 battle.
