Texas State scored 36 straight points against No. 20 Boise State, but a stunning comeback still ended in a crushing 46-45 loss at Albertsons Stadium. The Bobcats entered the third quarter trailing 28-3 after a sloppy first half marked by seven penalties, a missed opportunity on a muffed punt and poor execution. Then quarterback Brad Jackson helped turn the game around. Texas State scored 22 unanswered third-quarter points, while its defense forced a fumble and shut down the Broncos. Jayden Bradley’s interception return for a touchdown pushed the Bobcats ahead 39-28. But Boise State backup quarterback Max Cutforth replaced injured starter Maddux Madsen and sparked a response. A trick-play interception hurt Texas State, while Cutforth delivered three touchdown passes. Jackson kept fighting, connecting with Zechariah Sample for a 72-yard touchdown during the wild finish. Jackson finished with 327 passing yards and five touchdowns, but Texas State could not hold on. The Bobcats remain tied for fourth in the conference standings.
