Penn State finally won its first Big Ten game of the season, taking down Purdue 31-17 on Halloween. They will have a challenge ahead of them to make it two in a row, with a trip to Washington on Saturday. Penn State is coming off a “get right” game after dropping its first four games in conference play. Following a bye week, the Nittany Lions found success in areas that had been lacking throughout the four-game losing streak. The run game finally took shape, led by Cam Wallace’s career-high 135 rushing yards. Carson Hansen nearly hit the century mark as well, as his 96 rush yards were the most for him in a Nittany Lion uniform. Rocco Becht looked poised and efficient, completing 16-of-24 for for 175 yards and a touchdown pass – and most importantly, no turnovers. The defensive front mostly overwhelmed the Boilermakers in the trenches after being pushed around for several weeks. The defense held Purdue to just 33 rushing yards. A consistent pass rush, that had been nowhere to be found previously, harassed Ryan Browne to complete only 10 of 29 passes and throw two interceptions.

After being down 7-3 late in the fourth quarter, the Huskies reached the end zone for the first time to take a 10-7 lead with 1:30 remaining. On the second play of the ensuing drive, Washington’s defense came up with a pick-six to take a 10-point lead in front of a stunned Huskers crowd.
Penn State and Washington will kick off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, with coverage provided by FS1.
