CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WKRC) – Two men were reportedly caught traveling down a roadway on a couch that had been mounted on two e-scooters.
Two men were stopped while traveling down a Charlotte street on a couch, police said in an Instagram post.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s EDU officers encountered the men on South Tryon Street during the weekend of Oct. 1, according to the now-viral post.
Officers shared an image of the unusual mode of transportation and reminded residents to consider safety before taking unconventional vehicles onto public roads.
“While we appreciate the creativity, we do have to remind everyone: no matter what you’re ‘driving,’” the department wrote, “please think about safety first.”
The department encouraged people to consider whether an item belongs on a road with other vehicles and whether its presence could distract drivers.
“As a rule — probably best to leave the mobile furniture displays to IKEA,” the post said.
