KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Montana Tech football team held serve at No. 6 in the latest STADIONIC NAIA coaches’ top 25 poll, the national office announced Monday.
The Orediggers earned their third victory of the season against a ranked opponent on Saturday, defeating then-No. 22 Dakota State, 33-21, on the road. The victory moved Montana Tech to 4-1 on the season and 1-0 in Frontier Conference East Division play.
Tech’s other top-25 victories came September 5 versus then-No. 11 Carroll and September 12 at then-No. 18 Montana Western.
The College of Idaho, Montana Tech’s lone defeat on the season, moved into sole possession of the No. 1 spot. Carroll at No. 12 and Dakota State at No. 23 also represented the Frontier in the rankings.
Montana Tech will return home Saturday to celebrate Homecoming with a 1 p.m. kickoff against MSU-Northern.
