One of Oregon State football’s first transfer portal dominos fell Tuesday night with a redshirt-freshman quarterback announcing his exit.
One of Oregon State football’s first transfer portal dominos fell Tuesday night. Redshirt-freshman quarterback Kallen Gutridge announced his intention to transfer on social media.
“I want to thank Oregon State for the incredible opportunity to play for my childhood team,” Gutridge wrote in a X (formerly Twitter) post. “With that being said, I will (be) entering my the transfer portal with three years of eligibility left.”
Gutridge, a Wilsonville High School alum, spent two years with the Beavers and never played a snap. In 2025, he was Oregon State’s lone quarterback to not see the field. Gutridge backed up Maalik Murphy, Gabarri Johnson and Tristan Ti’a for the entirety of the 2025 season. Murphy made nine starts for the Beavers, Johnson countered with two of his own. In Oregon State’s season finale, Ti’a, a true freshman, got the nod for the Beavers.
At Wilsonville, Gutridge led his team to the 2023 OSAA 5A state championship. A three-star recruit, he completed 208 of his 321 pass-attempts (67.4 completion percentage) as a senior and threw for nearly 3,500 yards and 53 touchdowns. Gutridge added nearly 600 yards-rushing and six more scores with his legs that season. As Wilsonville’s starter, Gutridge achieved a 41-5 record.
Oregon State was Gutridge’s only Division I offer, according to 247Sports.
All three of Oregon State’s remaining quarterbacks — Murphy, Johnson and Ti’a — all have at least one year of eligibility left. Gutridge is the only signal-caller to announce intentions to transfer following JaMarcus Shephard’s hiring as head coach.
The transfer portal officially opens Jan. 2 and stays open until Jan. 16. Players have no requirement by which they must choose a new school, but can only enter the portal within the 14-day window.
