Quarterback for top-25 team on Oregon State’s schedule announces he won’t play again this season

Player announces on social media that he’ll use this season as a redshirt year over a dispute believed to be over name, image and likeness issues.

One of the toughest games on Oregon State’s remaining 2024 schedule took a bizarre turn Tuesday night when UNLV quarterback Matthew Sluka announced he’s redshirting the rest of the season.

UNLV (3-0) is having its best start to a football season, as the Rebels cracked the coaches Top 25 poll for the first time in program history two weeks ago. UNLV will have to make a run at the Mountain West championship without Sluka, who leads the Rebels in passing and rushing.
