GLACIER NATIONAL PARK, Mont. — Park rangers are investigating reports of a confrontation between a group of people on the Hidden Lake Overlook Trail in Glacier National Park.
Anyone who recognizes the individuals or has information that could assist investigators is asked to call or text the National Park Service ISB Tip Line at 888-653-0009 or email nps_isb@nps.gov.
The investigation follows an incident involving two groups of hikers after one group was seen off trail and approaching several mountain goats, according to an NBC Montana photographer who witnessed what happened. The photographer saw one group of hikers confront another group over their behavior near the animals.
Video of the incident shows the two groups screaming at each other and threatening one another before separating and going their own ways.
Glacier National Park recommends staying at least 100 yards away from bears or wolves and 25 yards away from other wildlife, including mountain goats. Visitors are also advised to stay on designated trails and give wildlife space.
