The Beavers’ one-time director of recruiting is back in the same role.
Former Oregon State linebacker turned recruiting staffer Michael Doctor is coming back to his alma mater.
A source confirmed to The Oregonian/OregonLive on Tuesday that Doctor has rejoined the OSU staff under head coach JaMarcus Shephard and will serve as the Beavers’ new director of recruiting. BeaversEdge first reported the news.
Doctor previously served in the same position at both OSU and Michigan State under former Beavers coach Jonathan Smith. He played five seasons for OSU from 2010-14, amassing 254 tackles including 22.5 for loss in three seasons as a starting linebacker.
Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Doctor most recently worked under Smith as his director of recruiting and player relations for two years before a coaching change in East Lansing at the end of the 2025 season. He spent six seasons working in the recruiting department at OSU before that, including the final three as director of recruiting for Smith.
Doctor will play a key role in building out OSU’s roster this offseason and into the future, working alongside Shephard and football general manager Eron Hodges. The Beavers have more than 30 players from last year’s team who have entered the transfer portal as of this story’s publishing, and are just now starting to bring in transfers.
