The Beavers are adding a former Lake Oswego Laker to their roster.
Dylan Layne is coming home.
The former Lake Oswego High School star turned linebacker for Idaho is transferring to Oregon State, according to multiple reports.
Layne was highly productive in his redshirt junior season with the Vandals, amassing a team-high 88 tackles including 5.5 for loss. He also broke up six passes and had a fumble recovery.
Originally a three-star recruit back in 2022, Layne was the No. 17 player in Oregon according to 247Sports. He was listed as an athlete and played on both sides of the ball for the Lakers.
His twin brother, Jack, was the starting quarterback for New Mexico this season as the Lobos went 9-4 under coach Jason Eck. At Lake Oswego, Jack was a two-star prospect and originally joined his brother at Idaho before leaving for New Mexico with Eck.
Dylan Layne, now set to join the Beavers, has one season of eligibility remaining and fills a key need for JaMarcus Shephard and company: starting linebacker Dexter Foster — another local product from Central Catholic in Portland — entered the portal this offseason.
