The Beavers have one more game to take care of before kicking off a new era.
Oregon State football has its next head coach, but it has one more game to take care of this season before the JaMarcus Shephard era begins.
The Beavers (2-9) travel up to Pullman this weekend to face Washington State (5-6) for the second time this season. It will be the final meeting between the two teams in the era of the “Pac-2,” with the new Pac-12 set to kick off for both in 2026.

TI’A TIME
The most meaningful on-field question for OSU this week is who will start at quarterback. True freshman Tristan Ti’a dazzled at the end of the Tulsa game, going 8 of 11 for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Fans are clamoring to see more of him as the Beavers seek to avoid a 10th loss.
Ti’a said this week he wants to stay at Oregon State, if given the opportunity to do so. Can he further prove on Saturday that he is part of the future of this program? OSU interim coach Robb Akey wouldn’t reveal his starting quarterback this week, but it feels inevitable that we will see Ti’a out there in Pullman.
GOING BOWLING
OSU is not even close to bowl eligible. It just wants to avoid double-digit losses. But the Beavers can play spoiler on Saturday: Washington State is one win away from bowl eligibility under first-year coach Jimmy Rogers.
The Beavers won, 10-7, in a grind-it-out affair last time around. Can they contain dual-threat quarterback Zevi Eckhaus again and keep the game in reach for Ti’a and the offense, should the young signal-caller get the nod?
It could also end up being the opposite sort of game with plenty of scoring, especially if Ti’a energizes the OSU offense and Eckhaus is able to scramble with success the way he has in recent weeks.
