Two Oregon State football players were arrested in the month of November, court records obtained by the Portland Tribune on Saturday show. Law enforcement arrested two wide receivers, David Wells Jr. and Jimmy Valsin III, in separate incidents for alleged DUIIs and reckless driving.
Valsin III’s, 21, arrest occurred on Nov. 1 in Benton County. Benton County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Wells Jr., 21, on Nov. 23.
An Oregon State spokesperson provided the following statement from athletic director Scott Barnes:
“We are aware of the alleged law violations involving Jimmy Valsin III and David Wells Jr and take these matters very seriously,” Barnes said. “Valsin and Wells are not currently participating in Oregon State football team activities.”
Neither player traveled with the Beavers to their season finale matchup against Washington State.
Valsin III pled not guilty to both charges in a Nov. 19 arraignment. He is set to appear in court again on Dec. 16 for his next hearing. Mike Flinn, an attorney currently representing Beavers cornerback Exodus Ayers in his alleged assault case stemming from his Nov. 3 arrest, is representing Valsin III in the case. Flinn also represented former Oregon State running back Damien Martinez in a 2023 careless driving and minor-in-possesion case.
No further information is available on Well Jr.’s arrest at the time of this article’s publication. His name can be found in the Benton County Sheriff Office’s daily logs.
Valsin III did not appear in a game for Oregon State in either the 2025 or 2024 season. His last game with the Beavers was the 2023 Sun Bowl loss to Notre Dame. Wells Jr. is Oregon State’s second leading receiver this season. In 11 games this season, the redshirt-sophomore caught 44 passes for 466 yards and four touchdowns.
Oregon State announced the hiring of its 33rd head coach, former Alabama assistant JaMarcus Shepard, on Friday morning.
