Oregon State a two-score underdog to Washington State: Sneak peek, odds

We’ve arrived at the final week of Oregon State football’s dismal 2025 season.

The Beavers (2-9) travel up to Pullman to face the Washington State Cougars (5-6) in the second of two meetings this season.

Can OSU capture another undisputed “Pac-2″ championship? Or will Washington State even the series and make itself bowl eligible in the process?

(4) Zevi Eckhaus, QB

Eckhaus had a brutal game last time he faced the Beavers: 13 of 24, 146 yards and two interceptions. But he bounced back with a three-score performance against Louisiana Tech, including 56 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

One area Eckhaus could take more advantage of the OSU defense is by scrambling. We’ve seen the Beavers give up big runs to opposing quarterbacks before, and their lineup is likely to be even less experienced this time around.

(0) Anthony Palano, LB

Palano led the Cougars in tackles last time against OSU with 10, but he appears to be banged up after missing the Louisiana Tech game. Reports also indicate freshman Sullivan Schilmgen is more favored at this point.

Whether Palano sees the field more regularly than his freshman counterpart or not, his veteran experience and ability to shut down the run could prove useful for Washington State against an OSU team determined to win on the ground.

What to expect

After the performance OSU put in last time out against Tulsa, it would not be surprising to see the Beavers sleepwalk through their finale. There is little left to play for beyond pride and putting quality game tape together, and OSU’s new coach is likely to be announced in the 48 hours after this game. Plus, Washington State is trying to earn a bowl berth.

But there are certainly some intriguing storylines for OSU, namely who will start at quarterback. Tristan Ti’a was superb in his shift against the Golden Hurricane, going 8 of 11 for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Will the true freshman get the nod in the finale as an acknowledgment of this program’s potential future?
