Vigen reiterated his commitment to Montana State on Wednesday afternoon.
Oregon State football’s next head coach will not be Brent Vigen.
The 50-year-old, fifth-year Montana State head coach reiterated his commitment to the Bobcats on Wednesday in a statement posted to the team’s social media accounts. Vigen was a finalist at OSU, according to sources, and landed at Portland International Airport on Sunday for reasons he would not say.
“I’ve spoken with Athletic Director, Leon Costello, and I’m incredibly grateful for the continued support from Montana State University and Bobcat Athletics,” Vigen wrote. “Their commitment to making meaningful investments in our football program positions us for long-term success. I’m honored for the opportunity to keep leading this team and to continue this journey as the head football coach.”
As of Tuesday night, the OSU coaching search was believed to be a two-man race between Vigen and Alabama co-offensive coordinator JaMarcus Shephard, according to sources.
