David Wells Jr. and Jimmy Valsin III were both arrested this month, according to police and court records.
Two Oregon State football players were arrested in November for alleged driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII) and reckless driving, according to court records.
Wide receivers Jimmy Valsin III and David Wells Jr. were each charged with both DUII and reckless driving in separate alleged incidents Nov. 1 and 23. Both are Class A misdemeanors under Oregon law.
Neither player is on the road trip to face Washington State in the Beavers’ final regular season game Saturday.
“We are aware of the alleged law violations involving Jimmy Valsin III and David Wells Jr. and take these matters very seriously,” OSU athletic director Scott Barnes said in a written statement. “Valsin and Wells are not currently participating in Oregon State football team activities.”
Valsin’s citation was issued at 5 a.m. on Nov. 1 near Bellfountain and Llewellyn Roads, south of Corvallis, according to court records. Valsin was arraigned Nov. 19 and entered pleas of not guilty to both charges. His next hearing is scheduled for Dec. 16.
Valsin is being represented by attorney Mike Flinn, who is also representing OSU defensive back Exodus Ayers in his criminal assault and harrassment case. Valsin has not appeared in a game this season for OSU due to injury.
Wells was arrested on Nov. 23, although no further information about his case is available as of Saturday in Oregon’s online judicial search system. His name appears in the Benton County Sheriff’s Department’s daily log.
Wells has played in all 11 games for the Beavers this season, ranking second on the team with 44 receptions for 466 yards and a team-high four receiving touchdowns.
OSU announced the hiring of its new head coach, JaMarcus Shephard, on Friday morning.
