Welcome to our weekly predictions post from our writers. You’ll see what they expect the score to be and any wacky or rational predictions they expect to see in each game!
Cal has a commanding lead through 3 quarters (something like 17-6 Cal with the OSU offense looking completely ineffective with multiple turnovers), but the OSU rushing attack eventually wears down the Cal front-7 as OSU starts consistently driving down the field for their final 3 drives of the 4th quarter for 21 straight points to win the game.
No one’s going to be comfortable during this game. Oregon state’s defense looks weak, but Cal’s offense has not been playing good football, even against bad defenses. Lots of unfinished drives. I think Nohl Williams could go crazy out there, but we’ll see. Cade Uluave prediction for this game: 12 tackles, .5 sacks, 2 QBHU’s.
On a personal note, I’m bringing my wife to her first Cal game, and I couldn’t be more excited. My prediction for her: Violet Wake – 2 seltzers, 3 correct stanza’s of the drinking song, and 5 I love you’s during the game (1 at the start of each quarter and 1 after 00:00).
At this point, I’m going to have to commit to the bit. With the potential return of Tobias Merriweather, our offense gains a new dimension and spacing for run plays and medium passes.
Until Cal proves they can win one score games, there are little football reasons that I have to pick them despite the rash of injuries for Oregon State.
I won’t be able to watch the game but I hope both teams have fun and we have no catastrophic injuries.
Our only hope for escaping a full-on death spiral is beating Oregon State? The same Oregon State that has been a thorn in the side of the program for most of the last 20 years? I suppose it’s possible, but I’m not feeling optimistic.
