Smith, who coached Oregon State from 2018-23, lost for the 10th time as a player, assistant coach or head coach to Oregon in Eugene.
EUGENE — There weren’t many Oregon State Beavers fans Friday night at Autzen Stadium, but most of those who showed made sure to plant themselves outside Michigan State’s locker room.
They had things to say to the Spartans who walked past after a 31-10 loss to Oregon. Nothing was particularly clever — “OSU has more wins!” one fan wearing a Beavers jersey yelled — but they had to say something, with 10 months of anger built up after Jonathan Smith abruptly left Oregon State to become Michigan State’s coach last November.
