California held Oregon State to fewer than 100 yards in the first half
The California Golden Bears (4-4, 0-4 ACC) rolled to a 44-7 victory Saturday against the Oregon State Beavers (4-4), breaking a four-game losing streak.
California’s defense shut out Oregon State through three quarters and held the visiting Beavers to only 82 total yards in the first half of the game. At the half, the Golden Bears led the Beavers 31-0, its largest halftime lead since Sept. 5, 2015, when it had a 52-0 advantage over the Grambling State Tigers at the break.
The Beavers’ offense struggled against California’s stout defense. The visiting team put in second-string quarterback Ben Gulbranson after starter Gevani McCoy threw an interception on Oregon State’s first possession of the second quarter. McCoy was two-for-five for three passing yards in the first quarter.
