Promising Oregon State guard Donovyn Hunter gives transfer pledge to a former Beavers coach

Hunter played the most minutes of anyone on OSU’s 2023-24 roster a year after graduating from South Medford High

Oregon State guard Donovyn Hunter is leaving the state where she played high school and college basketball and is headed to TCU.

The rising 6-foot sophomore, a South Medford High grad, will play for TCU coach Mark Campbell, formerly an assistant coach at Oregon State and Oregon.

Hunter is the fifth OSU women’s basketball player to announce a transfer decision this week. She joins Adlee Blacklock (Texas Tech), Timea Gardiner (UCLA), Raegan Beers (Oklahoma) and Talia von Oelhoffen (USC) as former players from Oregon State’s 2023-24 Elite Eight squad.

Still yet to decide among OSU players in the transfer portal are Lily Hansford, Martha Pietsch and Dominika Paurova.

Losing Hunter is a blow as she gave hints of stardom during her freshman season at Oregon State. Hunter played more minutes than anyone on the roster, and she started 34 of 35 games. Hunter averaged 6.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists a game.
