Ayers, who grew up in Albuquerque but currently attends Proctor Academy in New Hampshire, had 12 interceptions last fall as a junior cornerback
Exodus Ayers, a defensive back/receiver recruit from New Mexico, is the latest rising high school senior to commit to the Oregon State Beavers in the class of 2024.
The 6-foot-3, 175-pound Ayers, who is from Albuquerque and attends Proctor Academy in New Hampshire, verbally committed to OSU on Monday, about three weeks after visiting Corvallis.
He is likely to play defensive back at Oregon State, even though he’s been recruited on both sides of the ball. Boston College, UNLV, Connecticut, Central Michigan and Massachusetts were among the schools to offer Ayers.
Ayers is the seventh player, and second defensive back, to commit to OSU for 2024. The others include: defensive back/athlete Andrew Brinson IV, receivers Logan Saldate and Malachi Durant, tight end Wyatt Hook, offensive lineman Dylan Sikorski and linebacker/running back Makhi Frazier.
Ayers attended La Cueva High in Albuquerque his first two years of high school before transferring to Proctor Academy last fall. As a junior at Proctor, he was named New Hampshire’s Gatorade Player of the Year after recording 12 interceptions, including six he returned for touchdowns.
